Christmas Decor

I have been trying to get into the Christmas mood, I have nearly finished cleaning the house,  hopefully tomorrow I will start Christmas decorating, I have got as far as dragging the Christmas decoration boxes out from the cupboard under the stairs.  I love antique style baubles, elegant candlesticks and tons of fairy lights. Once the Christmas decorating  task is completed, I am sure I will then feel in the Christmas mood, if I am happy with the results I may even post some photos, in the meantime I leave you with some beautiful images from some French Décor magazines...

I love this, I just want to drape elegantly there with a good book and a glass of red!

Three Gifts for Cinderella

Whilst looking for images for my previous post, I came across this image, it is from my favourite childhood program 'Three Gifts for Cinderella',The story was based on a fairy tale written by Božena Němcová (a Bohemian variation of the classic Cinderella fairytale) the film was edited into episodes and shown on UK TV in the late seventies. it also appeared on the PBS chanel in the US.  The film was a Czech production apparently they show it on German, Swiss, Slovakian, Czech and Norwegian TV every Christmas. I wonder if anyone else out there around my age remembers it?  It is enchanting, The English version is not currently available on DVD but I was delighted to find the original BBC version  here.

I have now watched the entire series on u tube, I think it was lifted off a very old VHS recording, the quality was a bit dodgy but never the less I found it just as magical now as I did then.  Even if your not familiar with it, check it out, I think you will find it enchanting too.

Snow Queens and their Lairs

The UK is gripped in an early Winter Freeze and now the weather is starting to close in here, Christmas is just round the corner, everyone wants to get on with things at this busy time of year but the weather is hampering matters, it's a shame these wintry conditions could not of held off for a few weeks and given everyone a long awaited White Christmas, I hope those affected are bearing up and keeping warm.

Mist

This morning when I woke up, I was overjoyed to see we have the first sprinkling of snow, added to that the mist was rising from the valley below, it was stunning, I took my camera with me, when we took Crusoe for his morning constitutional.

 

 With all this early snow, some of the high ski stations have opened for business, I can't wait to hit those slopes.
