Colours of Abundance

Just like a French farce there was much debate in the Town Hall, should they deepen the harbour to let all the big boats, the floating gin palaces and the tax avoidance yachts in?  Then they could attract all the billionaires, the bankers and the dock dollies.  Or should they keep the small colourful sailing boats, fishing vessels, modest yachts and motor boats, thankfully they decided on the latter and the locals drew a huge sigh of relief...

Waiting for the Barber

The colours of this town are turquoise, ochre and terracotta, then every Wednesday, one of the biggest and best markets on the Provençal coast arrives and the colours go into overdrive....

Tomorrow, a train ride, a rendezvous with my Sister and a rather special place...

Sojurn

Regina Relang

Tomorrow
We are heading off for a couple of weeks for a much needed sojourn hopefully heading for the French and Italian Riviera's before Tout Le Monde descend.  Laptop and camera plus accoutrements will be accompanying me so I will be able to keep up with what your all up to, and keep you all posted.  See you there.

Before I go I could not resist a few more garden shots, the Peonies and the English Roses had the grace to start flowering just before our departure, we will miss the best of them but our neighbours, who have kindly offered to water all the new shrubs and trees we have just planted to replace the casualties that did not survive the cold spell in February, have carte blanche to enjoy and pick what they like for their home, so glad they will be appreciated and not go to waste.

Gentle Hermione, David Austin

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend.

Fabulous Photographer Martin Munkácsi

Peignoir in a Soft Breeze 1936

Martin Munkácsi was the master of movement, along with Lartigue he is my favourite photographer, his pictures are full of life and personality, you can hear the surf, feel the breeze and sense the atmosphere, in short, he had the gift of capturing the moment.  It is no wonder that his work influenced Henri Cartier-Bresson and Richard Avedon. He was a photographic genius.

"The only thing which completely was an amazement to me and brought me to photography was the work of Munkacsi. When I saw the photograph of Munkacsi of the black kids running in a wave I couldn't believe such a thing could be caught with the camera. I said damn it, I took my camera and went out into the street."
