Interlude

Just thought I would drop in quickly to let you know that I have not disappeared off the face of the earth entirely, I have simply been having a very busy Summer, work commitments and guests and it's hot, very hot.
South West France is currently in the grip of a Canicule.

Normal service will resume shortly and when I return French Sampler may look a little different, I can't wait to catch up with you all again soon.

    1. Thank you Fly, it certainly feels like the tropics here, it's incredibly humid, trying to keep cool is difficult, currently dreaming of air conditioning but am making do with fans and trying to expend as little energy as possible.

  2. Welcome back Dash! Glad you are enjoying a busy summer... and hopefully surviving la Canicule... We just got a taste of canicule ourselves, here in Seattle, or so it felt like (we are so used to mild and often unpredictable summers here, you know...) Anyway, all is good now. Overcast weather this morning, and a bit of a chill in the air. Phew. Seattle is back! Can't wait to see what you will be doing with your blog in the next few weeks. 1. Debra, I often forget that all of you in the Southern hemisphere have opposite seasons, you will just be experiencing the first stirrings of Spring, things will be warming up soon.

  10. Well, I'm glad to have just read your posting. I first came to your blog about six weeks ago when it was highly recommended to me by a couple of folks.

Since then, however, the posting has, every morning, been the same one I saw on my first "visit". I've been wondering what that was about. For better or worse?.... when dealing with anything-confusing on the internet, I always assume that the "problem" is probably me...or (next usual-suspect) my aged computer, or (most impenetrable mystery of all) the fact that I'm one of the 3.4 folks on the planet who still uses AOL as his server.

Turns out that you've just haven't written anything new.

I'll look forward to following your blog (which, as I wrote, came highly recommended) when you cool off enough to kick-start it back into action.

    Sincerely,

  12. By the way?....I was highly surprised, about two years ago (and having seen a marvelous "morphing" moontage of paintings of women-through-the-ages), to receive an email from a French art student who'd done the same with portraits of dogs. He'd seen my work at a show in Tours, gone to my website, and downloaded two of my dog-portraits, which he afterwards incorporated into his "morphing" montage.

That was probably the most genuinely interesting thing that's happened to me & mine during my entire "career". I should emphasize that I'm not the sort to go all hysterical over someone's "using" my work. Quite frankly, and as I tell folks who badger me about being "careful" (i.e., block downloads, put a watermark on each image, etcetera), I'd like nothing better than to discover that, say, some large grocery-store chain or pet-food company had lifted my stuff....I'd simply sue them and never have to work again.

I wish I still had the link to a very complex and quite beautiful "morphing" montage of women-in-art-through-the-ages (this thing is about seven minutes long). If I find it by googling, I'll send the link to this site.

    Sincerely,

    Dvaid Terry
