  1. My first thought when I saw the first photo: "Oh, la la! Quelle cha-cha!" -- I knew the second one. Isn't it about an American girl in Italy (or something?) That poor girl looks a bit stressed out... ;-) Bon weekend, Dash. Veronique (French Girl in Seattle)

  3. I have never seen that photo before! It is glorious. I lived in Napoli for 3 years and never managed to turn so many Italian heads!

  4. I love the story behind the Orkin photo! Not at all what I would have guessed at first glance! Non?

I was very young when I first went to Italy. Luckily, because of my red hair and blue eyes, the boys thought that I was Italian and so spent all of their efforts trying to pick up my blonde girlfriends. :)

  5. I am sorry but I don't see the humour or beauty in such behavior. This is exactly how it felt to walk down the street as a young girl growing up in France, even though I never dressed provocatively. It is disrespectful to women to harass them that way and to this day I have nothing nice to say about Frenchmen.

  6. Oh I never knew that charming story about the Ruth Orkin shot - and I agree with Heather - not what I imagined at all!!

  7. I have always adored the second photo so much, I have a copy of it in my bedroom, so it's wonderful to hear the story of how it came about - what an amazing, adventurous pair of women!! The first pic is simply incredible. My husband, who is half-Italian, told me the men in the pics are spot on and he's scared to take me there - hahahahahha!!! xoxoxoxoxxo
