Help!



I love this picture, does anybody out there know who this dancer is and who this photograph is by?

UPDATE

Thank you Stephanie and Violetta, I ran it through Tin Eye and sleuthed it. It is British Ballerina Alicia Markova, taken by John Rawlings in 1944.  I should have guessed it was Rawlings work,  nobody did colour like him. Whilst I was there...

Had some of these pictures on file for another post but I'm afraid I just couldn't help myself! I love his work, so very Mad Men or rather Mad Men so very John Rawlings.

    If you go to www.tineye.com you can put in the url of the original photo from the site you found it on. It will search for the image elsewhere on the web. Doesn't always work, but if it does, perhaps another site will have the information. Good luck!

    It looks like Tamara Toumanova, and I believe the photographer is John Rawlings. It was done for Vogue.

    So many lovely ladies, so many cigarettes! Odd how perceptions change with time and medical knowledge, isn't it?

    The color quality in vintage photos has such an effect on the emotions. Those photos, staged and taken now with a digital camera, would not create the same feeling at all. Magic!
