Just discovered your blog with all these great images of France and its icons - great!
ReplyDeleteThis was a lovely tribute to the French and Bastille Day. I hope you enjoyed some festivities.
ReplyDeleteI've never seen a photo of Piaf before. She was very pretty. Did you see the portrayal of her by Marion Cottilard?
While I liked all the photos (eye candy) the little dog with the cart stole my heart!
Vive la France!
ReplyDeleteAnd the dog in the third black and white photo looks just like my dog, Apple!!
Beautiful visuals. Thanks
ReplyDeleteMay I contact you by e mail...to discuss something which I would like to post but not before discussing it with you?

Lovely photos. I agree with Ruth, that photo of Alan Delon is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Jeanne. It's always a treat. And a delicious selection of photos.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous images Dash - a great kick start to my morning! x
ReplyDeleteThese are fantastic images! A great way to start the day!
ReplyDeleteGreat images...the train wreck was surreal!
ReplyDeleteJoyeux quatorze juillet. Perhaps I should not say that as the storming of the Bastille was bloody, at any rate I hope you enjoyed la Fête Nationale. What a wonderful assemblage of photos, except for the iconic photo of Yves Saint Laurent. That image has always given me the creeps. Perhaps it is the fact that he is nude in what is obviously a formal studio portrait or the fact that he is wearing his signature glasses. Everything is at odds but perhaps that is the point.
ReplyDeleteThe fashion designer has no clothes.
Actually I think I am simply bothered by the fact that he has his bare bum on a leather cushion.
That is wrong, wrong and creepy.

ReplyDeleteDash - where DO you get these wonderful images for your blog?
ReplyDeleteI love to see what images of effortless elegance you have posted and this blog is no exception.
I don't know which image I like the best - possibly the kids at the Eiffel Tower? Coco Chanel? Joesphine Baker?
Too many to choose!
I must say I worry about the leather pouffe. Hopefully the image was shot fairly quickly so that there was minimal sponging down of the pouffe required afterwards.
Is it still socially acceptable to call something a leather pouffe? Was it EVER socially acceptable?
This is my second attempt at leaving this comment. I think I'm clicking about too quickly ;-) Great post Dash!

Dear Dash, gorgeous post! I love all the pictures you choose. I particularly like the one of the Metro and the fabulous shot Josephine Baker is sheer glamour...
ReplyDeleteHappy belated Bastille Day. I'd write more but I have to get up in less than three hours to go to a bloody festival. It's pissing down and gale force winds at the mo. Marvellous. Have an amazing weekend, Love xx
